This fabric is recreated from a silk fabric found at the Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum in Japan. This type of motif was common in 7th-8th century Eurasia and is particularly associated with Sogdiana and the Sogdians who were very active in the silk trade along the Silk Road.

Pattern repeat: The medallions of the Sogdian twill are 21cm in diameter, but the pattern repeat as a whole is 26cm. The medallions are arranged so that there are 5 pieces in width and 4 medallions in length.
