This beautiful fabric was made for Köthen Castle, It is a rather thick jaqcquard woven half silk fabric with silk in the warp and linnen (flax) in the weft. The original fabric was handwoven with a width of 52cm. This fabric is woven in a modern loom with a width of 112cm, which means that you weave two length of fabric in parallell in order to have an exact copy of the original one. It was woven in the beginning of the 18th century and it was made for the room where Johan Sebastian Bach worked between 1717 and 1723.
